Sharon, Vermont
This site is where Joseph Smith was born on December 23, 1805. The house is no longer standing, but a monument has been erected to commemorate Joseph.
The monument is made out of a solid granite slab. This is one of the largest solid slabs in the world.
It was quite a feat to get this monument back to the site in Vermont after it was made. There are many hills. In fact, it was so hard and they had had so many difficulties that when they were within just a few miles, they almost gave up and were going to send it to SLC and think of something else for Sharon. However, they finally succeeded and it was dedicated on December 23, 1905, one hundred years after Joseph was born.
There are also foundations left of Lucy Mack Smith's father's home and her brother's.
