Garden Grove

There was more mud between Nauvoo and Garden Grove than anywhere else along the trail and it was slow going for our pioneers. Those stopped in Garden Grove included Abigail Abbott and her family and Jeremiah and Sarah Leavitt. Jeremiah went back to Bonaparte with his son Dudley to have more flour ground to last the winter at Garden Grove.

It was at the grove that Sarah Leavitt received word that her husband had died at Bonaparte. We have added a picture of his headstone at Bonaparte Cemetery.
